"Why can't evangelical authors produce a true successor to "Mere Christianity"? The main reason, I think, is that today's best scholars, like Mr. Plantinga and Yale philosophy professor Nicholas Wolterstorff, can't write for a general audience"

I'm about like the "general audience" and I understand quite a bit of Plantinga. I have a feeling Craig's 3rd edition Reasonable Faith is an evangelical Lewis successor.

Isn't Keller a Calvinist? That automatically removes him from consideration! How could his evil god, closer to the devil, and demented and sick theology produce something on par with Lewis?

I love guilt by association. It is so clean. It also saves a lot of time. There is not need to interact witht he issues.

Anonymous,

No, genius. He's presbyterian. And plenty of Calvinists (Van Till, Cornelius and Alvin Plantinga) have contributed to supporting the Christian worldview.
